Adventist Relief for Haiti

January 15, 2010                       

 

The North Bahamas Conference joins its sister fields in the West Indies Union by preparing to aid the people of Haiti who are suffering as the result of the mega earthquake which occurred on Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Here are ways you can assist:

Pray

All churches on Sabbath, January 16 are encouraged to offer special prayer for Haiti and continue to pray thereafter.   

 

Donate Clothing

Information will be given as details are finalized in this regard.

 

Donate Non-Perishables

Information will be forthcoming as details are finalized.

 

Donate Money

A financial contribution will also be made to ADRA’s Fund for assistance in Haiti.

 

 

ADRA

The North Bahamas Conference and all fields in the West Indies Union Conference are donating funds and clothing to ADRA (Adventist Disaster Relief Agency) to assist Haiti.   If you are medical or mental health professional want to volunteer to go at your own expense, kindly inform the Conference headquarters as soon as possible.

 


 

 

 

News Concerning Haiti Relief

 

 

The following news items are courtesy of Haitian SDA website:

 

  • It has been reported that a prominent Adventist leader, Pastor Joseph Germain, the father of Pastor Gerly Germain, has been found dead. We are not sure whether he was at church or home, but it is has been confirmed.

  • There are several Adventist professors who have been reported dead but their names have not been released.

  • Diquini (Town), the Adventist University in Haiti and Adventist Hospital have been partly destroyed.

  • Auditorium, one of the biggest Adventist Churches in Haiti, has been destroyed.

  • Carefour (Town) is the home of dozens of Adventist churches, and it has been reported that most of these churches have been completely demolished.

  • There are 335,751 Adventists on the island of Haiti with 473 churches.
