LIFT UP THE TRUMPET

Many years ago when H.M.S. Richards, Sr. was in charge of the Voice of Prophecy radio broadcast, he had a song which he always used to begin and end his programme. The words went something like this, “Lift up the trumpet and loud let it ring, Jesus is coming again.” As Seventh-day Adventists, our very name, Adventist, speaks to the fact that we truly believe in the second coming of Christ. As such, our energies are focused on making sure that we do “Tell the World” that he is coming.

It is good to know that in the North Bahamas Mission, our members are committed to the task of sharing their faith. Even though the month of May is not the “ideal” time for evangelistic series, our churches, pastors and members have taken the Apostles words to heart to “be instant in season and out of season.”

For the past week, the Freeport, Shiloh and Sunrise Churches have been making a proclamation to the island of Grand Bahama. The Hope For Today Happy Family Bible Seminar with Evangelist Michael A. Smith and team has been blazing the trail with the words of Hope desperately needed for our families today. Rain or shine, the Canvas Cathedral on Beachway and Gambier Drives have been ablaze with the powerful, down to earth and relevant preaching of Evangelist Smith. Through the work of the Holy Spirit hearts are being touched. As they enter their second week, I invite you to not only pray for them, but to support with your presence and by bringing a guest each night.

A little further east, the Bethesda Church is entering into their second week of the “Jesus Christ the Desire of Nations” Evangelistic Series with Evangelist Berenice Derival from the Haitian Union. Night after night the church has been packed as persons have been coming, despite the challenges within the Haitian community, to hear this powerful preacher of God. As the church continues to work for the saving of souls, pray that God will reward with a rich harvest.

Over in Abaco, the flames of evangelism are alive as well. The Marsh Harbour and South Abaco churches have joined hands together in the “King Is Coming” Evangelistic Series with Evangelist Ryan Simson from Jamaica. The pastor reports that the meetings are going well and through God’s grace they look to a great harvest.

As members of the Adventist Church, you and I understand that the church exists for only one reason, to spread the everlasting gospel, which is why we are always doing evangelistic series. We must use every means possible to tell the world of a soon coming King. In order for the church to remain alive, its members must continually be involved in evangelism. Ellen White admonishes us that if our youth are rightly trained, and if the laity and members join hands together, the work will be finished in record time and we will be able to go home. It is time to finish the work! It is time to go home!

My challenge to all of our members in the North Bahamas Mission is to commit yourself this coming week to give your all to these evangelistic efforts in the time that remains. Friends of Jesus, have to get serious and start telling their friends about Jesus.

Youth Ministries

UPCOMING EVENTS

July 9 – 16 – We are looking forward to the “It’s all about Him” Youth/Pathfinder Camp in Crossing Rock, Abaco. This promises to be the biggest and best camp that we have ever seen in the North Bahamas Mission. We are requesting that all youth and pathfinders begin planning to be there. Camp fee is $200.00 for the week.

July 30 – August 12 – The North Bahamas Mission Youth Department launches it’s third Annual Gospel Extravaganza under our summer theme “It’s all about Him”. We are going to have an awesome experience as we move forward with the program of youth evangelism in our territory.

August 7 is going to be a time of excitement, enjoyment, exhilaration, and enthusiasm. We are already planning a sports day that will be out of this world. We can already hear the loud cheers, and see the great athletes from the various churches as they participate in this grand event. (This night will be an off night of the crusade).

Sabbath, August 12 following the Sabbath celebration in the afternoon we will have our “It’s all about Him” Bible Bowl. This is going to be the first of it’s kind in our Mission and we believe that it will be a blessing as the youth showcase their knowledge of the scriptures. Let’s all plan to attend as we end our gospel extravaganza with a bang.

The biggest best, beach picnic that our area has ever seen will take place this year. Youth Summer Splash 2006!

Even though this event is not included in the summer programs I will put in a plug for the first Pathfinder March and Rally in the history of our Mission territory. It will be on Sabbath, September 16, 2006. We are looking forward to having at least 200 uniformed Pathfinders present to march and spread the message of salvation to other youth.

Family Ministries

Under the patronage of Pastor R.V. Bain and Mrs. Bain, the Eight Mile Rock Family Ministries Department will be holding its Second Annual Marriage Commitment Retreat, November 3-5, 2006 at the Xanadu Beach Resort and Marina. The cost of the event is $350.00 per couple, which includes hotel room, food and resource materials. Presenters for this event will be Doctors Wendall R. & Althea McMillan. You don’t want to miss it so contact your Family Ministries Leaders in your local church or call Chris & Eleanor Rolle at 351-2358 for further information. Please note that you will also want to invite couples from the community at large. Come and receive a rich blessing.

Happy Sabbath!
