North Bahamas Youth Summit

ImageThe Freeport Seventh-day Adventist Church was almost filled to capacity on Friday evening and overflowing on Sabbath as youth from all over Grand Bahama converged for a historic Youth Summit held from July 7 – 8, 2006.

The Youth Director of West Indies Union Conference, Pastor Blythe delivered inspirational messages on Friday evening and Sabbath Morning, which were attended by Pastor Ricardo Bain, Youth Director, North Bahamas Mission and Pastor Michael Smith, Secretary, North Bahamas Mission.

Pastors Wendell McMillan, Field Secretary of West Indies Union Conference and Errol Tinker, President of North Bahamas Mission, were in attendance on Sabbath afternoon at a Youth Leadership workshop conducted by Pastor Blythe.

A team comprising Pastor Ricardo Bain, Bro. Peter Watson and Pastor Blythe traveled over to neigbouring Abaco on Sunday morning where they held workshops with Youth Leaders on that island.

A combined youth choir and the pathfinder band provided inspirational music and talented displays for the weekend.

Barring any international catastrophe, it looks like National Geographic Television is really going to broadcast the Secrets of Revelation documentary they recorded in March. It's mind-boggling for me to grasp that National Geographic would actually fly to the Vatican and interview Cardinal Stafford regarding the beast and Revelation, and then fly up to my old cave to ask my opinion. Talk about opposite extremes!

It reminds me of the dichotomy between the priests in Jerusalem and John the Baptist in the wilderness. (Not that I'm comparing myself with John.) I think you already know the Amazing Facts web site has more details but just in case you want to forward this here's the link. http://www.amazingfacts.org/news/read_news.asp?ID=95

The first broadcast will be Sunday, July 16 at 9 p.m. (on Cable Bahamas Channel 26).    I think it's the same time all across the US time zones. Here is the link with their schedule.
http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/ET/daily/20060716.html
I'll confess I am still a little nervous about what aspects of the interview they are going to show. They taped one entire church service and at least two hours of interview footage. Not to mention the recording they did up in the canyon. The whole program is only one hour so I have no idea what segments they have included or how they have arranged them.

I see in the timing for this and incredible evangelistic opportunity! For example, I think you know that last week Dwight Nelson and I spent a couple of days together in Sacramento taping a half an hour program called The Final Events Of Bible Prophecy. Right now we are planning on airing this on a major television network during primetime. (We're shooting for 7 p.m. PAX Network) This will be shortly after the National Geographic broadcast.

Then within a few days of this national primetime broadcast we will begin our 10 part satellite evangelistic series. The Most Amazing Prophecies meetings (We call it our MAP meetings.) will run from September 15-23. 3ABN is helping us produce it but it will also be on the Hope channel. I'm excited because this will be the 10-year anniversary from the first series we did at Andrews University and many people say that was one of our best meetings. During the same time as the MAP series I will be doing a week of prayer for the students. Pray for me, that's going to be a busy week.

If we can only get people involved, these 3 major opportunities can cause avalanche of interest in our message! All they have to do is:

  • Invite friends to view the National Geographic program.
  • Invite them to view the Final Events special.
  • Give them a brochure and invite them to attend the MAP meetings.

By the way if you know what church that wants to participate in the Andrews satellite meetings they should register at our web site. www.mapseminar.com .
Anyway I hope this update is useful and thanks again for your help and prayers.

Pastor Doug Batchelor
