FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT
It
is with heartfelt delight, and a sense of gratitude to God, that I salute you,
my brothers and sisters, on this beautiful Lord’s Day. Indeed, God has been more
than wonderful to us, in that He has brought us securely through another week.
This, of course, calls for praise, thanksgiving, and, yes, CELEBRATION, because
it is the Sabbath.
I wish to embrace this opportunity to sincerely
thank you for your continued corporate prayers, and your collective commitment
to advance the work of our Mission, as we seek together to lift up Christ. I’m
convinced that God has great things in store for us. All he desires of us is,
that we humble ourselves before him, and pray, and seek his face.
We would like to recognize
in a special way, Pastors M. A. Smith and R. V. Bain and their teams, for their
courageous efforts in waging war against the forces of evil. We thank God for
their success thus far, and pray that God will continue to prosper their good
work. We also ask that you remember in your prayers the other pastors: H. R.
Moncur, L. Rahming and E. Bryan Tinker, as they plan to join the evangelistic
forces in another week or so.
As has been announced in an earlier issue of the
Evangel, the Executive Committee of the North Bahamas Mission has voted the
following districts adjustments effective April 1, 2007:
- Freeport/West
End—Pastor M. A. Smith
- Shiloh /Eight Mile
Rock—Pastor H. R. Moncur
-
Sunrise/Bethesda—Pastor E. Bryan Tinker
- Marsh Harbour/North
Abaco—Pastor R. V. Bain
- South Abaco/
Salem—Pastor L. Rahming
We solicit your fervent and heartfelt prayers on
behalf of the entire Mission family; but particularly, we request that you
remember the Administration, the Departmental Directors and the Pastors, as we
seek to remain focus in leading our Mission into greater exploits for the Lord
Jesus Christ.
May God bless you one and
all.
HAVE A HAPPY AND
CHRIST-CENTERED SABBATH!!!

Recipe of the Week
Hot Cross Buns
Ingredients
1 C milk
2 T yeast
½ C sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/3 C butter, melted and cooled
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg
4 eggs
5 C flour
1 1/3 C currants or raisins
1 egg white
Glaze
1 1/3 C confectioner’s sugar
1 ½ tsp. finely chopped lemon
zest
½ tsp. lemon extract
1-2 T milk
Directions
In a small saucepan, heat milk to very warm, but
not hot (110 degrees if using a candy thermometer). Fit an electric mixer with
a dough hook. Pour warm milk in the bowl of mixer and sprinkle yeast over. Mix
to dissolve and let sit for 5 minutes.
With mixer running at low speed, add sugar,
salt, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and eggs. Gradually add flour, dough will be wet
and sticky, and continue kneading with dough hook until smooth, about 5
minutes. Detach bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let the dough “rest” for
30-45 minutes.
Return bowl to mixer and knead until smooth and
elastic, for about 3 more minutes. Add currants or raisins and knead until well
mixed. At this point, dough will still be fairly wet and sticky. Shape dough
in a ball, place in a buttered dish, cover with plastic wrap and let rise
overnight in the refrigerator. Excess moisture will be absorbed by the morning.
If you are in a hurry let dough Sit at room
temperature for about a half-hour. Line a large baking pan (or pans) with wax
paper (you could also lightly grease a baking). Divide dough into 24 equal
pieces (in half, half again, etc., etc.) Shape each portion into a ball and
place on baking sheet, about ½ inch apart. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and
let rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled in size, about 1 ½ hours.
In the meantime, pre-heat oven 400 degrees.
When buns have risen, take sharp or serrated
knife and carefully slash buns with a cross. Brush them with egg white and
place in oven. Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees, then bake
until golden brown, about 15 minutes more. Transfer to a wire rack. Whish
together glaze ingredients, and spoon over buns in a cross pattern. Serve warm,
if possible
Enjoy!
